MTU 4000 main bearing caps
Lateral socket-head screws :
Step 1 = 80 Nm
Step 2 = 280 Nm +20 Nm

MTU 4000 Con Rod
step 1 = Tighten 25 Nm
step 2 = Pretightening torque 240 Nm +20 Nm
step 3 = Additional angle of rotation 90° +10°
step 4 = Checking torque 450 Nm

Cyl Head
step 1 = Tighten 25 Nm
step 2 = Pretightening torque 180 Nm +10 Nm
step 3 = Additional angle of rotation 180° +10°
step 4 = Checking torque 400 Nm

KGS - Kraftgegenseite - (Engine free end)

KS - Kraftseite - (Engine driving end)

OT - Oberer Totpunkt - (Top Dead Center)

bore = 165 mm
stroke = 190 mm

MTU 4000 Displacement
- Displacement per cylinder = 
4.06 liter

8V4000 = 32.48 liter

12V4000 = 48.72 liter

16V4000 = 64.96 liter

20V4000 = 81.20 liter

MTU 4000 Cylinder designations
MTU use the DIN ISO 1204 specs in which
Left is defined as A 
and Right is defined as B.

Sides are viewed from the driving end, or 'KS' in the ISO specs;
this means as viewed from the flywheel.

Numbering cylinders begins from the flywheel end starting with
A1 = Left 1; and B1 = Right 1.

Rotation (facing rear end) - Counterclockwise

8V = A1-B4-A4-A2-B3-A3-B2-B1
12V = A1-B2-A5-B4-A3-B1-A6-B5-A2-B3-A4-B6
16 V = A1-A7-B4-B6-A4-B8-A2-A8-
       B3-B5-A3-A5-B2-A6-B1-B7
20 V = A1-B5-A8-B7-A5-B2-A7-B10-A2-B3-
       A10-B6-A3-B4-A6-B9-A4-B1-A9-B8
